Have you ever had a morning when you looked in the mirror and thought, “Man, I really should take care of that.” Maybe it was something as minor as noticing that your hair could use a trim to keep it looking healthy and stylish. Perhaps you considered if your wardrobe needed a sprucing up after you head second thoughts about the outfit you’ve chosen.
Well, believe it or not, our own homes do the same thing when they are in need of a refreshing change to alter their appearance. While they may not be able to verbally speak, if walls could talk, they would have plenty to say about the condition they are in and when it’s time you, the homeowner, to give them a little TLC. Luckily, walls don’t have to talk in order for you to recognize when your home could use a new paint job.
Here are the tell-tale signs that will instantly signal that you need to repaint your home:
The Paint is Peeling
If you are looking at the interior or exterior of your home and you notice areas of peeling paint, it’s time to call a painting contractor. Chipped and flaked areas can not only never be repaired, but they will only continue to get worse the more they are exposed to moisture and heat.
The Surface is Cracked
If you are starting to see cracks on the painted exterior surface, this is an indication that the painted coating is starting to fail. If this isn’t quickly addressed, chipping and flaking are soon to follow.
The Color is Fading
Because some sides of your home will naturally be more exposed to ultraviolet rays, this exposure will lead to fading color over time. Repainting every side of your home is an easy way to even out your color on all sides of the house.
It Always Looks Dirty
While a pressure washer is always an effective tool to have on hand, sometimes, there are certain things that a pressure washer can’t fix. One of these things is an old paint job. If you remove a significant amount of dirt and mold and the look of your home still doesn’t look any better, it’s time for a new coat of paint.
Because we live in a culture focused on outward appearance, this statement not only applies to how we personally take care of ourselves and our appearance, but also, how we take care of the appearance of our homes. It’s important to pay attention to what your home is telling you and when you think it’s saying that it needs a new coat of paint, to take action.
